Mathematics Research Intern — World Models — Vivax Careers

Bring rigorous mathematics to the training of Vivax's clinical world model — from the geometry of representation spaces and optimization theory for large-scale training to the probabilistic foundations of medical foundation models.

Type: Internship | Location: Hybrid (Istanbul, Türkiye)

Responsibilities

  • Formalize and analyze world-model training objectives: latent-variable models, state-space dynamics, and sequence-modeling losses
  • Work on the optimization theory behind large-scale training: convergence behavior, learning-rate schedules, curvature and loss-landscape analysis
  • Apply probability and statistics to model evaluation: calibration, uncertainty quantification, and distribution shift in clinical data
  • Prototype mathematical ideas in PyTorch / JAX notebooks and turn them into reproducible experiments with the research team
  • Write clear internal notes and derivations that shape how Vivax trains its own medical foundation models

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in linear algebra, probability theory, and multivariable calculus / real analysis
  • Comfort with at least one of: optimization, stochastic processes, information theory, or differential geometry
  • Working Python and NumPy / PyTorch skills — enough to test an idea numerically
  • Ability to communicate mathematical arguments clearly in writing
