AI & Machine Learning Research Intern — Vivax Careers
Work at the frontier of medical AI — training Vivax's own clinical LLMs from scratch, fine-tuning multimodal foundation models, building robust ML infrastructure, and integrating intelligent systems into real hospital workflows via FHIR and EHR connectors.

Responsibilities
- Pre-train and fine-tune clinical language models on de-identified medical corpora using distributed training (FSDP, DeepSpeed)
- Fine-tune multimodal foundation models for healthcare-specific tasks
- Build raw ML engineering infrastructure: training pipelines, experiment tracking, model serving
- Implement HL7 FHIR R4 data pipelines for ingesting and structuring clinical data
- Develop rigorous evaluation suites against clinical benchmarks
Requirements
- Solid Python and PyTorch fundamentals
- Hands-on familiarity with the modern LLM stack: Hugging Face Transformers, PEFT/LoRA, TRL, vLLM
- Understanding of multimodal architectures
- Curiosity about healthcare data standards (HL7 FHIR, DICOM, ICD-10/11)
